Thanks to the expertise of Victoria and her colleagues, I have gained practical insights and strategies to navigate my career on international relations especially if I wish to get myself involved in organisations overseas such as the United Nations.

I chose YH thanks to the expertise, experience, and competence of its founder and the members who are running it.

This might be the only online platform that offers pragmatic insights and strategies for individuals solely interested in international relations.

Young and Hired was a game-changer for me, providing an eye-opening perspective on international relations and the diverse career paths within the field. Coming from a commerce background, I initially had limited exposure to the nuances of global affairs, but this course bridged that gap by offering valuable insights into international diplomacy, policy-making, and career opportunities.

It broadened my understanding of how I could align my passion for cultural diplomacy with a concrete career trajectory. The experience not only refined my aspirations but also reinforced my goal of establishing a globally recognized think tank dedicated to cultural diplomacy.

Coming from a commerce background, I was always interested in international relations but wasn’t sure where to begin. To start my journey, I decided to pursue this course, and in the future, I aspire to establish a globally recognized cultural diplomacy think tank.

Future plans decided to do my master's and PhD if needed.

I’m currently in my first year of the Master of International Relations program. During this journey, I faced a dilemma about whether to pursue a career in International Organizations (IOs) or further my academic studies with a Ph.D. The course I enrolled in played a pivotal role in helping me make an informed decision about my desired path.

I believe that such a comprehensive course is not readily available in universities. While I took a course on International Organizations, it primarily focused on understanding how IOs function rather than providing practical guidance on how to join them.

Fortunately, the Young and Hired program offered me an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge and experience in this field. Now that I have clarified my path, I am eager to delve deeper into it. The course materials provided by the program are incredibly helpful and presented in an accessible manner.

I enrolled into this course for a variety of reasons.
Firstly, during the height of the pandemic, when I was a bachelor's degree student myself, I became a subscriber to Victoria's page, whose content had already inspired and motivated me at that time. Having witnessed the creation of the remarkable Young and Hired team, I was confident that this course will be equally exceptional, and strongly encouraged myself not to miss the opportunity to participate.

Furthermore, following my graduation, I encountered challenges and uncertainties in determining my path forward in my chosen field, which led to feelings of disillusionment.
Lastly, I sought to seize the opportunity to deepen my understanding of this field, identify my strengths and areas of interest within it, and, upon gaining this insight, devise a clear roadmap for future endeavors.

The structure of this course encompasses a comprehensive overview of all the most pertinent aspects related to the IR. It delves into the essence of the concept, the domains it encompasses, the path to achieving the desired position, the educational requirements and professional skills necessary, the acquisition of work experience, the creation of a compelling resume, the significance of collaboration, and, most crucially, the feasibility of success through a steadfast plan of continuous learning and adaptation to evolving trends in the IR field.

Once all uncertainties have been resolved and strengths and weaknesses have been identified, the subsequent step is to devise a plan and execute it, while maintaining an open mind to new opportunities, which indeed abound!

I wholeheartedly recommend this course to further bolster self-confidence! And best wishes to the entire team!

My name is Genia Ntumba, and I am 27 years old. I live in the United States but am originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. I aspire to become a diplomat with a focus on peace and security and an active advocate for education in my home country.

I believe that Young and Hired is an essential resource for anyone interested in international relations. Before discovering this platform, I felt lost and intimidated by the idea of working at the United Nations. However, after taking the International Relations courses offered, I found my direction.

This course helped me identify areas where I need to improve, particularly regarding my competencies and the organizations I can approach to further my career.

This course is perfect for anyone who wants to work in the international relations industry but didn’t major in IR.

In my case, I studied international business, and it wasn’t until my senior year that I discovered my passion for international relations and diplomacy.

This course provided valuable insights on how and where to start in the field, boosted my confidence in my job search approach, and helped refine my CV and cover letter skills.

Hello. I’m Manuela from Indonesia. Since I was in junior high school, I’ve dreamed of becoming a diplomat. I acknowledged that becoming a diplomat is not easy because it requires excellent communication skills, cross-cultural understanding, and a sense of crisis.

At first, I didn’t know where to start and was having some struggles with my major. I was thinking whether it is fit or not for diplomacy. However, when I found the YH account on my Instagram homepage and started to join the course or lecture, I finally realized that my major is also connected to the diplomacy elements.

It was that moment that I felt like “Eureka”!. Cultural studies are indeed becoming one of the most important yet essential elements when we meet and negotiate with other individuals from various countries. Additionally, when I finished the course, I gained confidence in my major, especially in cultural studies and its relation to international diplomacy.

YH brighten up my career pathway to work in the UN or other international organizations. From the courses, I felt no hesitation anymore to try applying for jobs in the international fields.

From now on and in the future, I recommend this course not only for those who are concerned about international diplomacy but also for those who are willing to improve their English to start their professional careers and make an impact on the world by understanding and appreciating cross-cultural communications.

If I could give YH a rating, I think it would be more than a thousand stars for the review. So, I have already planned to sign up for the other course too! THANK YOU FOR THE INSIGHTFUL COURSES, YH!
(I hope that my another Indonesian friend can join this wonderful lecture too).

My Transformation Journey with Young and Hired
Greetings,

Before enrolling in the Young and Hired course, I faced significant career uncertainties. Although I was passionate about pursuing a career in International Relations (IR), I struggled to identify the right path, especially regarding working for the United Nations. I was unaware of the various opportunities in this field until I was on the verge of changing majors.

The turning point for me came when I discovered Victoria on Instagram. Her insights into negotiation within IR opened my eyes to a career I had never considered. I realized that I wanted to engage in work that could prevent wars and mitigate miscommunication between countries.

This discovery was pivotal in shaping my aspirations and provided me with a clear direction.

For the last two years I've been thinking about changing my career path, for I've for 8 years at the Senate of Colombia, studied government with a minor on global studies and was looking for an orientation on how to gather the best of the experience that I've already gathered with the new experience i've gain in the last two years on my participation at different United Nations events.  Also the 12 of december 2023 my organization, the National Water Network as member of the Global Coalition for the Defense of the Right to Health and a Healthy Environment won the prize on human rights of the UN General Assembly for the recognition of this right by the resolution 78/300 of 2023. This was the first time the UN gave this prize not to a single person but to a collective. I went personally to NYC to live this unique moment and that's when I decided I want to be a diplomat. This course is really helping me to clarify the path.

The impact:  Now I realize the fact that I can really be an excellent diplomat, I speak five languages, I've created different international movements and initiatives, I have a great performance at the COP and UN meetings that I have attended. Knowing more about the profiles, and the inverse engineering of getting a job really has helped me to see that it is a serious real possibility.

A word for others: I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to start an IR career with a focus of self-growth and awareness of the real opportunities out there: GO GET THEM ALL!

As someone with diverse interests, I wanted to explore the intersection of fashion and international relations, considering a possible future in the fashion industry while currently aiming to pursue politics and IR. Initially, I was unsure if this course would be relevant for a high school senior, but I found it valuable for those interested in IR beyond traditional careers in diplomacy, government, and the UN. The interactive session was particularly engaging, providing useful insights for high school students such CV-building skills.Although the course focuses on entering the fashion world with an IR background, it can still be beneficial for high school students interested in both fields. I was particularly interested in this course to improve my body language, presentation, and communication skills. As someone who has participated in MUNs, I understand the importance of diplomatic etiquette in global discussions. I still struggle with public speaking, so I hope to gain confidence in presenting myself effectively in formal settings. Understanding different etiquettes and how to interact in professional environments will be valuable for my future goals in international relations. I look forward to applying these skills in diplomatic and formal settings.

I want to start off by thanking you for offering this IR Careers Course. Before coming across Young and Hired via Instagram, I felt very demotivated and lost. I was genuinely overwhelmed by the possibilities I have as an IR student. This course helped me to achieve clarity and focus on the specific niches I want to incorporate into my personal brand as a young leader. I think the information shared in the course is very valuable and I can confidently say that though it was a small investment, to me it was worth every last cent.

Before the course:
My biggest obstacles would definitely have been the lack of clarity. International Relations is a vast field encompassing very different specializations, niches and branches. before starting I had the vague idea of becoming a diplomat or working in an international organization. I would apply to internships without having a clear vision of my future self or my competences.

The turning point:
My greatest "aha" moment were definitely lecture 2 and 4. These helped me to create a more clear vision for the young professional I wish to become. I also enjoyed the relatability Victoria radiates in the lectures which definitely helped me realize probably the most important thing: I am not alone in this. In International Relations all your peers seem to have it all put together with a clear outlook and vision for the near future and their career. Truth is, a lot of us don't and this course helped me realize that that does not have to be a reason to be demotivated or tap out before trying your hardest. All you need is a clear starting point, vision of where you want to go and a good idea of how to get there. Lecture 3 that focussed on skills and lecture 7 on how to grow your career also really helped me understand this.

The impact:
Instead of approaching my future career as a sprint, I am now considering it a marathon; staying consisten with my eye on a clear finish line. I think this course lifted a lot of the stress around the vagueness of my future career off of me and allowed me to break the big project down into smaller, more digestable pieces. Focussing on different aspects of building towards my dream IR career instead of hoping for the best has allowed me to work towards goals I see myself achieving in the near future. This course made me realize what kind of IR professional I wish to be, what I must focus on more, how to envision that future self as clearly as possible and how I could take up habits and skills that contribute towards that specifically curated goal.

The future:
This course first and foremost gave me the confidence to work towards my fields of interest. It helped me realize my place in the long process of building my career and it allowed me to cut out all the clutter I had in the back of my mind. I am focussing on finishing my bachelor's degree and persuing my master's degree in International Relations after which I will be working towards a career in Government and Diplomatic Services.

As a European Law student, I found this course very helpful. While I was already familiar with much of the information due to my Bachelor’s program in European Studies, I appreciated the opportunity to review the terminology. I especially valued the tips on writing emails and proposals, as well as phrases useful for giving speeches and engaging in negotiations.
